Strasa

Omcar Tio Dwi Project

Strasa is a mobile-first UI/UX concept aimed at reducing food waste by connecting consumers with surplus meals and raw food from local vendors. The platform promotes affordability, transparency, and sustainability — designed to benefit both businesses and everyday users.

Context

Food waste remains a major issue in urban communities, where perfectly edible items are often discarded due to oversupply or expiry windows.

Strasa was conceived as a platform that helps local F&B businesses clear surplus stock while giving consumers access to affordable food. Inspired by models like “Too Good To Go”, Strasa adapts the concept for the Indonesian market, with a focus on trust, simplicity, and social impact.

Role:

User Interface Designer

Involvement:

Concept design, user flow mapping, wireframing, full UI design, mobile mockup development

Goals

The goal was to design a clean, user-friendly interface that allows users to discover nearby surplus food, place orders quickly, and feel confident in the quality and safety of what they’re buying. The business side also needed a simple way to list items and manage pickups without extra friction.

Challenge

The main challenge was designing for mutual trust — especially between first-time users and food vendors. Since the items are surplus, users needed strong visual and textual cues to feel safe ordering, while vendors needed a quick listing system that didn’t disrupt their regular workflow.

Solution

The solution was to use a mix of clean visual hierarchy, trust indicators, and simplified flows to reduce hesitation on both ends. The design focused on clarity, speed, and confidence-building interactions.

Results

The prototype was showcased during a business competition as a tech-based social impact project. It helped the team communicate Strasa’s mission and validate the concept with mentors and early users. The design is ready for usability testing and MVP development.
